Ilikai Waikiki going into foreclosure

Come on back Hawaii Five-O!

Ilikai Hotel circa 1964

Is the Ilikai subject to a by-gone era never to return?  There is so much history with this still Waikiki resort property.  Of course you remember when this landmark achieved international status when Hawaii Five-O featured the hotel in its opening sequence-a panoramic shot of Jack Lord as Steve McGarrett standing a-top of his penthouse balcony overlooking Waikiki with aerial views of the Pacific Ocean and Diamond Head .  At the time, this building was Waikiki's most modern resort, standing 30-stories, and was one of Honolulu 's tallest buildings in 1964, with one of the highest reaching glass-elevators in the world.

Last Wednesday, Dec 17th, a Honolulu Judge allowed Ilikai's owner, iStar Financial to face foreclosure.  Now, they are scrambling to find a new buyer.  In this financially critical time, may prove to be very difficult.
